iPhone Weekend Warrior - Image 1Earlier this week, Apple's marketing VP, Phil Schiller, let out a few comments that made a lot of people go "WTF?!" in front of their monitors. Not only did he pin the PSP and the DS down for not being as cool as the iPod Touch, he also went as far as calling the two handhelds overpriced. Good grief, you sure about that, man? Catch the aftermath and a few more iPhone knick-knacks (that apparently make it ultra cool) right here on the iPhone Weekend Warrior.

sliding - Image 1Square Enix continues to jump into the iPhone bandwagon as the company announced a brand new real time strategy game for the iPhone and iPod Touch, Sliding Heroes, early last week. Now we have the first footage of the game, fresh from the ongoing Tokyo Game Show.

QJ QuickPeek - Image 1GamesCom sure did not disappoint this week, although it did color our front page purple for the most part. No doubt about it, Sony ruled the spotlight this past week, and there's even no point saying otherwise. Fanboy or not, plain fact is that Sony was responsible for probably 80% of the gaming-related activity on the Internet this week. But not to worry, you bet you can find other big news in QJ for the 86th week of QuickJump QuickPeek! All across our blogs! Jump in and find out for yourself.

QuickJump QuickPeek - Image 1Another week full of lawsuits. Poor, beleaguered company Midway came under fire once again, and this time it was from a very unlikely direction: the guy behind the Mortal Kombat movies is suing them in order to "protect his IP rights", which is a better way of saying that he wants to keep milking the MK franchise for as long as possible. Square Enix also got served with a class-action lawsuit for "deceiving" Final Fantasy XI patrons regarding fees. Not everything was bad, though. Read all about 'em after the jump in this week's Warrior recap.

iPhone Weekend Warrior - Image 1This week on the iPhone - high profile names are turning up at the App Store. The list includes Terminator, Resident Evil, X-Men Origins, and even Final Fantasy. Now that's some serious iPhone gaming right there. And if you thought that the hardware rumor-fest was only limited to Sony and Microsoft, you'd be wrong. Apparently, there's one coming for the iPhone as well. Catch all that and more on this week's iPhone Weekend Warrior!

Crystal Defenders Vanguard Storm - Image 1It's a sneaky release from Square Enix on the App Store. If you guys remember the recent "Vanguard Storm" trademark they filed for, this is the result of that. (Aww, and some of us were actually bracing for a full-blown all-new RPG! - which doesn't mean to say this looks bad either, though.) Continuing their handheld FF-based tower defense series, we now have Crystal Defenders: Vanguard Storm. And yes, the game is now available on the App Store for the usual US$ 4.99. Screens and trailer in the full article.

QuickJump QuickPeek - Image 1I don't know what's up with the scene now, but whatever it is, am liking it. It's raining news and updates, and thank god they're mostly for good games. Scratch that, I say they're GREAT games. We'll try to keep the chitchat to a minimum now, cos there's a lot in store for you in this issue of QuickJump QuickPeek. We're at #69, and your worlds are sure to go upside-down with delight, too.

FF7 Cloud StrifeWhen you're talking about Square Enix in a global scale, there's no doubting that they've managed to rake in huge amounts of sales for all their franchises. Final Fantasy? Kingdom Hearts? And of course, the more recently acquired Tomb Raider? How do they all stack up against each other? It's not surprising that they're raking sales by the millions for these big franchises. I'm just left wondering... how do they fare against lifetime sales for MGS, GTA, CoD, and the like?

Star Defense iPhone iPod Touch - Image 1I thought I just about seen every kind of tower defense game out there - until, of course, Star Defense. The mechanics are pretty much the same as any other tower defense title, however what makes this new iPhone/iPod Touch game unique is that levels are viewed as full 3D planets, with a Super Mario Galaxy twist! Check out the screens and teaser trailer in the full article. It looks like Square Enix's Crystal Defenders is being given a run for its money!
