Home music systems company Sonos has just announced their latest offering, Sonos S5 - an iPhone-synced all-in-one music system. It's wireless, works seamlessly with the iPhone using the Sonos Controller App, and can bring all the music of the internet straight into your media player. Features after the jump.

Homebrew coder ZodTTD has released a huge update for vlc4iphone, a port of VideoLAN VLC media player's source code for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Notable features on the latest release includes a new GUI, support for firmware 2.x and 3.x and some new features.

It's been a while since we last heard from Winnydows but now she's back with a new update for Winnydows Commander. For those who don't know what this homebrew app does, Winnydows Commander is a media manager designed for various devices like the PSP and iPhone. Now the latest update adds a media player and preview mode making the homebrew a full-fledged media center app.

Another one boards the iPhone-greater-than-PSP wagon. This time it's Game Brief analyst Nicholas Lovell, who says that the Apple device will be the "final nail in the PSP's coffin."

The first early build for the vlc4iphone homebrew application has finally been released by developer ZodTTD. vlc4iphone v1.0.0 Beta compiles all the previous fixes from the earlier versions and wraps it all up in this homebrew media player for the Apple mobile handset. Homebrew developer Richard Shearman has combined the very useful Safari Download Plugin and SeeQPod's streaming MP3 services to come up with a free alternative to iTunes: dTunes. With dTunes, you can now look for a song on SeeQPod and choose to download it as an MP3 and then play it back using only one app.
