After the whole Napster debacle Metallica is now quite gung ho about using newfangled technology to get their music out to the public. They partnered up with Activision for Guitar Hero: Metallica earlier this year, and now they're teaming up with Tapulous for a stab at the iPhone gaming market.

Portable rhythm gaming on the iPhone and iPod Touch has just gotten bigger. Rock Band's iPhone and iPod Touch iteration is now live and rocking the Apple App Store.

Apple has released the latest software update for the iPhone and iPod touch during its music-themed media event, "It's only rock and roll, but we like it". Notable features of OS 3.1 update includes Genius recommendations for apps, Genius mixes, syncing options, ringtones downloads,  new apps management and more.

Apple finally pulled back the curtains on iPhone 3.0, and it looks like Digg's Kevin Rose was spot on. The new firmware is coming with loads of new features, as well as new stuff for developers to play with.
