Homebrew coder ZodTTD has released a huge update for vlc4iphone, a port of VideoLAN VLC media player's source code for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Notable features on the latest release includes a new GUI, support for firmware 2.x and 3.x and some new features.

Some iPhone 3.0 users have voiced out that they've been receiving random IMs seemingly meant for other people. Users thought at first that the push notification system Apple had added in 3.0 was broken. It turns out, however, that they broke it themselves by unlocking their iPhones.

It's not only the iPhone DevTeam who are busy these days updating their apps to the latest iPhone 3GS, Saurik has also released a new version of MobileSubstrate and WinterBoard. These two great apps that can enable many different add-ons and themes for the iPhone is now 3GS compatible.

The iUSB Tunnel version 1.2.0 is a homebrew application for the iPhone developed by nurkjon. It's a simple gui that should make it easier for you to use SSH, VNC and Tethering with your iPhone over USB on a Windows machine.

Whoa that was fast, just hours after the release of the official iPhone OS 3.0 beta 5, the iPhone Dev-Team has confirmed that they have already jailbroken the fifth beta of OS 3.0 using the iPhone 3G. And that's not all. The Dev-Team also states that unless Apple changes the hardware of the iPhone, nothing will stop them from jailbreaking future iPhone OS.

It's been a while since we last heard from Winnydows but now she's back with a new update for Winnydows Commander. For those who don't know what this homebrew app does, Winnydows Commander is a media manager designed for various devices like the PSP and iPhone. Now the latest update adds a media player and preview mode making the homebrew a full-fledged media center app.

RipDev has released an update for their Cydia alternative, Icy. The freeware package manager is now at version 1.3. Check the full version for a list of changes.

The RipDev team has released a new version of  InstallerApp.  InstallerApp is a native Mac OS X application that will soon be available for Windows users that allows you to easily download applications for your iPhone from Installer and Cydia directly to your computer.

The beta 2 version of iPhone OS 3.0 may have only been released to the developers, but that doesn't mean our busy hackers aren't privy to the release as well. To top things off, they've even released a jailbreak, what, what!
